Name: Leon
Species: Sneasel
Gender: Male
Faction: The Weird Kin
Ability: Keen Eye
Gift: sneaky little bugger: Leon can blend into the shadows, effectively rendering himself invisible. Obviously, this relies on there being substantial enough shadows for him to hide in, and it doesn’t make him intangible or silent – and if someone or something bumps into him, his concentration is broken and he becomes visible again.
Hold Item: None
Attacks: Screech – Faint Attack Fury Swipes – Agility Icy Wind – Slash Beat Up – Metal Claw Ice Shard – Taunt
Talents: -He’s quick, even for a Sneasel -He’s very charismatic and good at getting what he wants without resorting to violence. -He’s graceful, and a pretty good dancer.
Personality:
Leon is, to put it bluntly, a thief, not a warrior. He’s less interested in the fighting, violence and slaughter side of gang life – blood is hard to get out of one’s coat – than he is the fun that can be had from pillaging and looting places. Leon’s general strategy in a fight is to let his ladies do all the hard work, then sneak in and make off with whatever shiny thing has caught his attention. Where that doesn’t work, he relies on his strong charisma to get him out of trouble, only resorting to fighting if it’s his absolute last hope (for good reason – he’s not very good at it.)
Despite his thieving nature, and his constant protesting that he only joined the Weird Kin because he liked teasing (and flirting with) its leader, Leon is actually quite the loyal Pokémon. He won’t stand to hear any member of his guild insulted, for instance – one of the only things that can get him to initiate a conflict, in fact. While he usually prefers fleeing over fighting, when it comes to his friends and allies, he’ll stand and use his speed and meticulously groomed claws to get them out of trouble, or at least distract the enemy while they get away.
Although he does make friends remarkably easily, the above loyalty only applies to those he actually likes – and it’s not always easy to tell whether someone fits under those category or not. Leon’s attempts to get on with just about everyone means that even if it seems like he’s having fun, he might be ten seconds away from snapping and ripping their jugular out. But then again, Leon’s not really the snap-and-rip-jugular type; it takes a lot to get under his skin. Insulting his friends, as mentioned above, is one method; purposefully messing with his appearance is another.
One might expect a male who is so fixated on his appearance to earn some teasing from others. One would be correct in this assumption – even Leon’s closest friends rib him for it – but his unassailable confidence prevents any hurtful remarks from doing any damage to him. Where the Sneasel is physically fragile, he is mentally thick-skinned and comfortable in who he is, something that contributes to his natural charisma.
Description:
At the most basic physical level, Leon looks almost exactly like one would expect a Sneasel to look. A thin, bipedal, almost feline creature, he has thin black fur covering every inch of skin, soft and silky to the touch. Unlike most Sneasel, the thick, curved claws – perfectly filed and cared for so as not to lose their ivory colouring – on both front and back paws are usually in their retracted position, only sliding into position if he deems it necessary, which isn’t often. After all, what if he broke one?
Leon is a young man who prides himself on his appearance above all else, and the little alterations he has made reflect this attitude. The scarlet feather-like growths on his head and lower back are rarely seen without some kind of dye or or paint, commonly in gold, silver or other metallic colours (although he has been known to break out glow-in-the-dark yellows and greens if he’s in a partying mood) and the golden discs on his forehead and chest are lovingly polished so much you can almost see your reflection in them (if you can get that close.) With all that work, it’s no wonder the only real way to ruffle Leon’s metaphorical feathers is to mess up his appearance.
History:
Leon was, originally, a wild Pokémon on the streets of Hearthome City. The bustling metropolis was home to him, his younger sister Hannah, and a close-knit group of friends of various species that, if they had made their home in Sootopolis, would probably have been a guild in their own right. Those days, in his youth, make up some of his fondest memories – stealing ice cream from human vendors and enjoying it from a rooftop, sneaking in to watch flashy contests and marveling at the beauty of the routines (or, occasionally, laugh at the expense of the ridiculously-costumed humans), or dancing in the lights of the city after the sun went down.
If life was so good back then, why would he ever leave? Leon’s still not sure of the answer himself – if he’s caught in a bad mood, he complains that he made the wrong decision – but it probably has something to do with being out on the streets one night, all his friends asleep, and seeing a Misdreavus and her friends out on the town. He quickly got to know them, particularly a patched-up Banette, and when it came time for them to leave a week later, he seriously considered going with them – but he didn’t; a life of wandering wasn’t one he had an interest in. Instead, he told them that if they ever settled down somewhere, to come and find him again. They came back to visit occasionally, recounting tales of adventures Leon almost wished he had witnessed; towards the end the visits became more frequent, slowly putting together pieces of a story that ended in the group’s unraveling.
Finally, two years after their first meeting, a very determined-looking Misdreavus barreled through Leon’s window, waking him and his sister and demanding he move to Sootopolis with her. So he kissed Hannah goodbye, told her to be safe and stay with their friends, and left, not daring to look back.
*not putting off writing the Tsunami Gang’s members, noooo*
