Welcome to Sootopolis, an ancient city in Hoenn's great blue ocean. From the depths of the waves towers a huge, ivory coloured mass of stone. The mountain, risen from lava many years ago, is one of the largest volcanoes ever recorded in the entire world. Sootopolis' exact means of birth are unknown: some say an earthquake triggered by many creatures, all of massive sizes, caused lava to plume out from the ocean crust and pile into a volcano, leaving its crater to peacefully sit in the middle. The first humans came recently, noticing the lake which formed in the crater's south, and used the rest of the dry land, which there was little of, to construct a town. However, myths say that humans lived here long before, guarding the sleeping spirits of the Blue and Red Orb... Of course, that is all set in the past.
And here, we don't give a shit about the past, now do we?
Modern Sootopolis: a utopia of large houses, scenic lake views, and everything else you could ever want in a city. People from from all over the world and their mom want to live in Sootopolis. As a result, humans are everywhere, and there are almost never any wild Pokémon in sight. But they are there, crawling between your feet, lurking in the shadows. These sly creatures know how to get around the city without drawing the attention of people.
To a Pokémon living wild and free in Sootopolis, to live itself is a challenge. Confronted by quickly moving cars and over excited humans, they must find food in all places: waste, parks, and, at times, stealing it from other humans. Even then, the fight to survive it still hard, and many Pokémon find themselves fighting each other over territory and other necessities. Fighting to survive, your needs become very simple: food, water, and shelter. And that is all you think about: you, yourself, and no one else.
As one might tell, living as a wild Pokémon is hard. As a result, many of these Pokémon have formed gangs in Sootopolis, and they now reign above the Pokémon life. Their stories are endless. The well run Tsunami Gang have the most power over all Sootopolis. They live in the lake and are a large group, living peaceful and organized lives. Running madly thought in the city itself is the Fireworks Gang, who are known better for being smaller and much less organized, but always exciting, if not very brutish. It's said that these gangs existed even before humans came to Sootopolis, but like we said, no one cares about the past here.
A recent addition to the main gangs are The Aureole, a small cast of Castform who govern the weather in select areas. They are commonly seen as the most powerful of the groups, despite being the smallest. After all, they can make it rain or shine, an ability that can drastically change the course of battle. The gangs commonly try to please them and gain their favor, but the Castform are smarter than that...
Between these gangs are smaller parties and Pokémon who fight together, trying to survive. At times, they co-operate with gangs to become guilds. And there are those Pokémon who do not belong to a party, preferring to live alone in the city. Lastly are the trained Pokémon, who venture from their trainer's trusted arms and meet the dangerous outside world.
Where do you stand?
