Cab Rosso
Mightyena; male
Possesses the Quick Feet ability
Is of a Lax Nature(+Defense, -Sp. Defense)
Nothing is equipped to him.
Moveset:
Embargo / Facade / Thunder Fang / Ice Fang / Poison Fang / Howl / Dig / Strength / Odor Sleuth
He is attempting to start his own group, called The Shepherds of Sootopolis.
Appearance:
Cab not very unusual in appearence. Like all mightyena, his fur is grey and black. He stands about a foot taller than the average, at 4'00”. His markings are very similar to the standard, if not exactly the same. The most noticeable differences are the marks under his dull maroon colored nose and that only the toes on his hind feet are covered by black fur. As opposed to a lot of shaggy, thick fur on his back, Cab has tamer fur in less amounts.
Although he is pretty normal looking, there are other, more subtle things about him which indicates that the body he inhabits is dead. Firstly, his eyes are dull and utterly devoid of any lively spark. Secondly, his body does not generate heat. Thirdly, he does not bleed and cannot heal normally. And finally, there is a gaping wound in his throat. Cab hides the final oddity under an aviator scarf. The others he hopes will simply not be noticed.
Gift:
Special ability to heal and never die.
That last part is not entirely accurate, as Cab can “die” if his body is destroyed enough that he can't put it back together. Since he's simply a spirit inhabiting a dead body, he could just go find another body if he were so inclined. He can't seem to pass on to the next world, so the only way to truly be rid of him is to destroy his spirit.
The first half of his ability is quite accurate, however. As the body is dead it cannot heal normally. Cab, through much practice, is able to heal himself. The truth is, nothing can be done instantly except for minor cuts so a very serious wound might not kill him, but it would incapacitate him for a while. The severity of the injury he has to heal directly correlates to the time he has to spend healing it. Usually it will take as long as it would a normal pokémon to heal. Certain types of injuries, for example dismemberment, cannot be healed.
Talent:
In his human days he was a skillful pilot. As a mightyena, he doesn't have any talents except perhaps his devastating Facade/Quick Feet combo.
Personality:
Despite all the time he spent part of a hive mind in the Keystone, Cab seems to have regained most of his identity, save some of his memories. It did have an effect on him, however, as he will always put the group over the individual. His first instinct is to follow rather than lead and he has a hard time saying “no” when pokémon ask him to do things for them. Slowly he's been regaining his take charge attitude, but sometimes his kneejerk reaction is to just do what the other pokémon says.
His time in the Keystone had yet another, more profound effect on his mind. Cab always had a strong sense of justice as a human, but he's so paranoid about somehow being punished again that it's been kicked into hyper-drive. He has his code of morals and he will stick with them to the end. He will always help those in need and he will always punish those he sees as deserving. Most importantly, he will never kill. Although his body is fragile, he is compelled to step in and stop immoral actions, even if he must fight.
Even though he would like to think he's completely moved on from his old life, the truth is it still tears Cab up inside. Being back in Sootopolis, where his wife and he spent so much of their time before settling, seems to have had a dampening effect on his charismatic and jolly personality. He still jokes and he's as friendly and charming as ever, but he's more thoughtful and spends more of his time alone. Seeing how much the city has changed since he's been away reminds him of how his own life has changed.
One of the most drastic changes Cab has noticed is the amount of crime. Perhaps it was always there, and he simply never saw it as a human, but the pokémon community in Sootopolis seems, to him, to be in desperate need of moral reform. He's wondering if he can find other pokémon of a similar frame of mind who can help him in his quest to turn Sootopolis back into the peaceful sanctuary he once knew.
History:
Born as a human 127 years ago, Cab was reincarnated into this form when his spirit was released from an Odd Keystone. He, along with 107 others, had been sealed in it for terrible misdeeds . Although his stint in the stone prison was meant to last 500 years, an amateur trainer who fancied himself an archaeologist discovered it and broke the Keystone in half. The spirits rushed out in a chaotic frenzy, having been freed 410 years early. Cab's spirit found the body of a recently dead mightyena, which he took over.
That was four years ago. Cab does not know what the other spirits are up to – though he has the ability to sense them – and he does not wish to know. He's only glad that they do not seem to have caused much harm in the time they've been free. Perhaps they've been reformed by their time spent in the Keystone? Who knows. Cab wishes he could say that he'll certainly never do what he did again, but he doesn't know what that is. His identity was suppressed while in the Keystone, and the details of his human life are hazy. Whatever awful thing he must have done to earn such punishment is a mystery to him.
There are a few things he can recall with clarity, however. His piloting days. His child. His beautiful wife. These were the first things on his mind once he had got it back. Immediately he set off for the city of Lilycove, where he had lived. To his distress, he discovered another family living there. He attacked them out of despair and desperation, running away when the older son came home and brought out his own pokémon to battle him. Cab wandered for weeks without aim, listless and mentally shattered. At one point he stopped eating, attempting to slowly starve himself to death until, one night, his wife appeared to him in his dream.
This seemed to bring him to his senses. He struggled to accept the fact that his old life was gone and though it was painful, he had to move on. He traveled Hoenn, looking for clues on his child's whereabouts in case she might be alive. But he never did find her. After two years of searching, he presumed her to be dead. Without even their graves, Cab attempted to put his old life firmly behind him, and move forward. But what to move forward for?
Cab continued to travel, meeting other pokémon and experiencing a new world, so different from what he had known. Over time, he became more like his old self. Laughing, joking, but always somewhat reserved and not truly open. As he would tell anyone willing to listen, his true regret was that he had not gotten the body of, or as he put it “was not born”, a bird pokémon. Oh, he dearly missed the skies, but they, too, had to be left behind. Still, he has often entertained the idea that somehow, someday, pokémon like himself might fly.
Now he is in Sootopolis, come as a stowaway on a ship from Slateport. He is quite new, having been in the city for only two weeks. He doesn't know anyone and while he was told at least about the Tsunami gang, he does not know anything about the guilds or the Fireworks gang. Cab is still unused to the changes the city has undergone, having last visited close to a hundred years ago.
Brief explanation of the numbers in the first paragraph.
Cab was imprisoned at 33, spent 90 years in the Keystone, and is now 37. Technically, 127.
