Moves: Teleport, Psychic, Reflect, Light Screen, Protect, Trick Room, Hypnosis, Will-O-Wisp, Confuse Ray, Thunder Wave
Description
The first thing that comes to mind upon seeing Katya? Tiny. Even for a Kirlia, Katya is missing about half a foot in height. Otherwise, Katya is obviously a Kirlia, though with some differences. Her pigtails are green, but more tapered rather than ending abruptly, and fall to her waist. The bangs are usually shoved more to the side than a normal Kirlia, obscuring the right side (left side, to the viewer) of her face. Her eyes are not the normal red, but instead a deep, sapphire blue. Well, usually. Beyond that, Katya seems to be an ordinary Kirlia, with the same white-green-red color scheme, apparent dress thing, and delicate build.
What really sets Katya apart is her clothes. Yes, we mean her clothes, as in the plural. Katya usually dresses… oddly, to say the least. She is rarely, if ever seen without a swallowtail coat buttoned over her white dressish thing. There’s also a fluffy white cravat tucked into it. The color of her coat varies (she has more than one, and has been seen making them when she gets bored), though it’s usually a deep, royal blue one with black and silver trim and many silver buttons because Katya likes shiny things. It has the emblem of the Cirque on the back – a stylized, horizontal crescent moon that resembles a disembodied, disturbingly cheerful grin. The white skirt-thing all Kirlia have protrudes beyond the end of the coat, though the tails fall farther, down to mid-calf. Katya also wears a matching top hat, black with a blue ribbon. Her socks are white, with blue detail at the edge, and go slightly higher than mid-thigh, baring a few inches of green skin between the socks and her skirt. Strappy, high-heeled black boots cover her legs from the knee down. She has a gold pocket watch clipped to the coat at her waist for some reason. Katya also wears a pair of Wise Glasses, which are the most ordinary thing she wears, with simple black frames.
Gift
True Sight – basically she gets Foresight and Miracle Eye at the same time, when she activates her right eye. However, this also extends to other types, whether they resist or not. If we’re talking gameplay terms, no damaging attack of hers does no/resisted damage, but it will also never be super-effective, and no attack will ever deal her super-effective or resisted damage, although she can get no damage if she has traced the appropriate ability (ex. Flash Fire, although it will not give her an attack boost because she has no fire attacks anyway).
Talent(s)
Katya is extraordinarily acrobatic and graceful, especially for a Psychic-type. This, combined with judicious Teleport spam, makes Katya hard to hit, and, therefore, hard to beat. Also she can throw knives around very well, and having telekinesis doesn’t hurt that either, though she rarely uses that because she’s not much of a fighter, and even when she does, is more of a defensive/support role.
Personality
To most people, Katya seems to be sweet, adorable, and downright cute. Which is odd, because she’s also the leader and founder of the Cirque, one of the most vicious guilds around. Katya is generally nice, thoughtful, and polite to everyone, unless she has already met them before and has some kind of grudge or whatever, at which point she acts more cold but is generally civil. Katya has never been much of a fighter either. No sudden adrenaline-infused personality about-faces for her. Under normal circumstances, Katya is quite the prim and proper lady, with some… contradictions.
To begin with, Katya is not your typical polite Kirlia. She’s quite the tomboy, despite her physical appearance, and likes to be in constant motion. Combat is not her strong suit. Confusing people? Is. Despite Katya’s tomboyishness, she’s rather vain and likes making her own clothes to wear, which are usually flamboyant and all. And all of this would be quite acceptable if Katya wasn’t a sociopath.
Speaking of which. Katya is a sociopath, which does not mean she sees fit to flaunt every and all social code – just the ones that hinder her. Honor does not matter much to her, but survival does. This is probably why she’s extremely skilled at Teleport spam and ranged attacks, rather than out-and-out close combat. Though if she could evolve to be a Gallade, she probably would have. Katya doesn’t give a damn what everyone else thinks of her, though yes, she does like to look pretty. At the end of the day, Katya is a fairly decent person, just not a particularly normal one.
History
Katya’s family tree is an odd one, and not entirely necessary to her character BUT I needed another paragraph kthnx. Anyway, Katya’s mother was from a group of four Clans of wild Pokemon in the middle of nowhere, nearly all of which seemed to be odd-colored, odd-typed, or both. This is probably where Katya’s gift of ignoring types in general comes from. Her father belonged to a group of even weirder wild Pokemon, who would run around colonizing stuff and were in about the same level of defying colors and types. Shut up I didn’t make them up. :D; Also trufax: it’s like none of Katya’s family are physically possible of being mentally healthy or having a happy ending.
Katya was born the youngest of three children in distant Orre, a wild Ralts living in the northwestern forest. Life was good, until she was captured while picking berries with her sister. Katya was taken by her new trainer on her way into Sinnoh, where she participated in various contests and eventually evolved. Somewhere along the line, her trainer decided to trade her, and Katya found herself in the employ of the Silver Troupe, a traveling circus based mainly in Kanto and Johto. Katya spent several years as a knife-thrower. This was mostly because the crowds generally received a midget lolita of a Kirlia throwing knives well, and Katya’s own skill with it.
Eventually, Katya just got bored of throwing knives at people all the time. After saving up her wages, Katya paid the circus to let her disappear and never have to see them again. This might or might not have to do with Katya throwing a knife into the eye of a Machoke that had particularly annoyed her (she cites sexual harassment). They parted ways and Katya made her way to Sootopolis, at which point she found… living like a normal person was even more boring. Because Katya was not a Fire-type, Water-type, or Castform, joining up with one of the gangs or the Aureole was not an option, and Katya disliked the idea in the first place. Solution? Katya formed the Cirque du Lune, which gradually gained recognition as “the Cirque”, “the Loons”, or just “those fucking psychotic carnies”. At current, Katya runs the Cirque, which freelances for any of the three major powers, so long as they get suitable compensation.
