The Aureole appear as one of the smallest, but strongest, of the factions in Sootopolis. They are made entirely of Castform, and happen to be very powerful. You might not expect this from a Castform alone, but when enough of them group together, they can change the entire weather of Sootopolis. As a result, they are extremely important to the main gangs: rain or shine usually decides who gets buried under a grave and who lives for another day.

The Castform live exclusively at the summit of the crater Sootopolis itself dwells in. From there they can see the entirety of the city and apply their skills to change the clouds. It's unknown how the Castform got there, as Castform are a rather new species, being human made and all. It's likely that, when trying to introduce contained Castform to the wild of Hoenn, they were sent to Sootopolis City and from then on began to breed. The inbreeding may cause some... odd mutations, but by now the amount of Castform has grown to sufficient numbers, and they can breed with other Pokémon in their egg group.

Recently, the Aureole have been quite violent. Their leader was assassinated by unknown forces, and the Aureole intend to find out who it was. As a result, they aren't changing the weather for anyone at the moment, and mostly fling whatever weather they feel like out.
